Chennai: As part of nationwide searches on franchisees of the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, Income Tax officials here Wednesday were checking the books of accounts of India Cements Ltd, the owner of Chennai Super Kings team.
Preliminary reports indicated that tax officials visited India Cements office in south Madras Wednesday.
The company owns Chennai Super Kings team and won the bid for $91 million in 2008.
As the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the India Cements Ltd, N. Srinivasan is also the secretary of the Indian cricket board, his son-in-law Gurunath Meyyappan is the public face of the Chennai Super Kings.
