Nazir Ahmad Khan, father of the deceased, said that Firdous along with some friends had just finished loading a truck in the locality to earn some quick bucks. “On his return to home, I asked him to go to paddy fields to irrigate them. Firdous obliged.
But within 15 minutes he was shot dead by the paramilitary forces,” Nazir said with tears in his eyes.

Firdous’s brother, Muddasir who was shocked over the death, said, “The CRPF have killed my brother. My world has shattered.”

Beating her chest, Firdous’s mother was calling her son back. “Come home, I am waiting for you since last evening. How can you leave me alone,” she cried.

The residents of the area castigated the authorities for failing to stop gross human rights violations by the troops in the valley.
