New Delhi : Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will visit New York and Washington Oct 5-9 to take part in several meetings, including annual meet of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank that is likely to focus on giving greater say to emerging economies like India and China.
During his five-day visit, Mukherjee will also take part in Commonwealth finance ministers’ meeting in Washington Oct 7-8 and an institutional investors meet, an official said Monday.
The annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank will take place in Washington Oct 8-10. World leaders are pushing for a comprehensive reform in the decision-making process and governance of the IMF and the World Bank.
Mukherjee will be accompanied by senior officials including Finance Secretary Ashok Chawla and Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu.
