The attack occurred around 2.30 p.m. in southwestern Balochistan province, Xinhua reported quoting the local Urdu channel Geo TV.

The gunmen opened fire at the NATO convoy on the Sibi-Quetta highway in the Dasht area of Mastung district, some 60 km south of the provincial capital of Quetta.

The assailants fled the scene after the attack.

The flames could be seen from several kilometres away, Geo TV said, adding that six fire tenders were called in from Quetta to put out the blaze.

No casualties were reported so far.

Attacks on NATO supply convoys are frequently reported in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and southwestern Balochistan province, as nearly 70 percent of the supplies of the coalition troops in Afghanistan are transported through these areas.
