Nine minor girls rescued in Delhi

New Delhi : Nine minor girls hailing from Assam were rescued from different places, including a placement agency, in the national capital region, said police Monday. One person was arrested in this connection.

“With the help of NGO Shakti Vahini we rescued three minor girls on July 13 from Rajdhari Placement Agency which was being run in Rajouri Garden in west Delhi,” said a police official.

“The arrested person has been identified as Munna Chaudhary who is the owner of the placement agency,” said the official.

“During interrogation, Chaudhary said that he procures minor girls through brokers/agents from rural areas of Assam and after they are brought to Delhi, they are employed as domestic help,” added the official.

The minor girls had no knowledge about their salary and they had no contact with their parents after coming to Delhi.

“We have rescued another six girls from various places in the capital following the arrest of Chaudhary,” added the official.
