“This is for the first time we have taken up this initiative. The central forces on poll duty will come to schools or colleges only on the polling day and will go back with the election officials. They will camp somewhere else, but not in schools,” Quraishi told reporters on the sidelines of a programme of the Merchants Chamber of Commerce (MCC) here.

Quraishi also said it was an embarrassment when people with criminal background became legislators.

“It is a situation of embarrassment when law breakers become law makers. It becomes difficult for us to justify,” he said.

The six-phase assembly polls will be held from April 18 to May 10. The results will be declared May 13
