Magnitude-6 quake rattles northeastern Japan

Tokyo : An earthquake registering magnitude-6 struck at 7.12 a.m. Wednesday (2212 GMT Tuesday) in the area on Japan’s northeastern coast that was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami March 11.

There was no tsunami warning following Wednesday’s tremor, Kyodo News reported.

The March 11 quake, which reached magnitude 9, was the strongest in Japanese history and left more than 9,000 people dead, with more than 13,000 people still missing.
