New Delhi : James Bevan has been appointed the new British envoy to India, the British High Commission here said Monday.
Bevan will succeed incumbent Richard Stagg in November, a press release said.
“I am honoured and delighted to have been appointed Her Majesty’s High Commissioner to India. The UK and India have a strong and deep relationship, many shared interests, and close ties between our peoples,” the press release quoted Bevan as saying.
“Our two countries are committed to building an enhanced and forward-looking partnership for the 21st century. I look forward to playing my part in that,” he added.
Bevan was previously the chief operating officer of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s modernisation program and supervised its global operations, migration and consular work.
