Islamabad: Pakistan’s parliament should reverse the decision to grant Most Favoured Nation status to India if it considers it unfavourable, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said.

Malik said he personally understood that good relations between neighbouring countries always had positive impact on bilateral relations.

However, he added, if the parliament considered the decision as not favourable, it should reverse it, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

Ministerial and secretary level meetings with India had helped improve relations between the two countries, which was a positive development, Malik said.

Pakistan Wednesday granted MFN status to India, reciprocating a 15-year-old gesture.

India had given Pakistan the MFN status in 1996 but Islamabad did not respond positively. Ties between the two countries deteriorated after the Mumbai terror attack in 2008 for which Pakistan was blamed.
