Speaking to reporters on board his special aircraft while returning home from Dhaka after a two-day visit, Manmohan Singh said that all political parties must do “some internal introspection” on the frequent interruption of parliament.

To a query on the Gujarat governor having appointed a Lokayukta bypassing the state government, he said: “Let the court decide”. The Narendra Modi government has approached the state high court in the matter.

Describing the frequent interruption of parliament as a “national loss”, the prime minister said that there will always be areas in which parties differ.

“We have to develop a culture of tolerance,” he said.

He stressed that the legislative agenda of the government must not get disrupted. He was referring to many of parliament’s working days being lost due to the interruptions.
