New Delhi : A 61-year-old man, facing trial in two cases of drug peddling, has been arrested here with heroin worth Rs.3 crore in international market, police said Friday.
Narain Dass, a resident of Khanjawala in Delhi, was arrested on a tip-off Thursday from the city’s Dwarka area where he had to deliver a consignment of drugs to a client.
A kilogram of heroin was recovered from Dass while another two kg were seized from his home, police said.
“Its value in international market is approximately Rs.3 crore,” a police official said, adding that Dass got his drugs from dealers in Uttar Pradesh.
Dass took to drug peddling after his two elder brothers, who too were drug dealers, died of drug addiction. He has been arrested on two previous occasions and is facing trial in those cases, according to police.
Police have recovered 110 kg charas, 1,294 kg ganja, 20 kg heroin and 1.5 kg cocaine in Delhi till June 30 this year, while more than 650 drug peddlers have been arrested, a police official said.
