New Delhi : The Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal N.A.K. Browne, Sunday left for a four-day trip to Bangladesh to step-up bilateral military ties between the two countries.
Browne will call on Bangladesh President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina “during this defence cooperation visit to reinforce defence ties”, an air force official said. Hasina is also the defence minister of Bangladesh.
The Indian air chief will also hold talks with the three Bangladeshi service chiefs – General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen of the army, Air Marshal S.M. Ziaur Rahman of the air force and Vice-Admiral Zahir Uddin Ahmed of the navy.
He will “discuss a wide range of bilateral issues on the ongoing defence cooperation between the two countries and outline further areas of defence cooperation as a part of broader military engagements”, the official said in a statement.
Browne will also visit the army, air and naval headquarters in Bangladesh and pay a trip to the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) in Dhaka.
