Fine slapped on absentee doctors in Kashmir

    Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Minister of State for Health Shabir Ahmad Khan Wednesday imposed a fine on doctors and paramedical staff for absence from duty and ordered administrative action against them.

    During a surprise visit to a sub-district hospital in Bishnah in Jammu district, Khan imposed a fine of Rs.1,000 each on three medical officers and Rs.500 on four paramedics for their unauthorised absence from duty.

    The minister also directed the director health services to take administrative action against the absentees.

    During his visit, the minister found that 23 staff members posted at the hospital had not marked their attendance while some had remained absent without any authorisation from the hospital administration.

    He interacted with the patients and inquired about the health care facilities being provided to them.

    Khan underscored the need for maintaining proper sanitation in and around the hospital besides adherence to dress code by hospital staff.

    The minister stressed on punctuality of the medicos and paramedical staff and directed that duty sheets of the hospital officials should be displayed prominently in future.
