Mumbai : Indian equities markets opened in the red Wednesday, with a key index 0.23 percent lower than its last closing figure.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex) opened at 9,442.3 points, lower than its close at 9,471.04 Tuesday. About five minutes into trade, it was at 9,449.08 points, 0.23 percent or 21.96 points below its previous close.
The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was at 2,931.4 points, 0.25 percent down from its last close of 2,938.7.
The BSE midcap index was 0.33 percent lower than its previous close, while the BSE smallcap index was down 0.06 percent.
