The last date of filing income tax returns for the assessment year 2010-11 has been extended to Oct 15 from Sep 30, according to an official statement.

“The due date has been extended in view of disturbance to general life caused by floods,” it said.

Last week, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) extended the due date of filing of returns of income for all categories of cases in Jammu and Kashmir to Nov 30, because of the law and order problems in the state.

According to the statement, the extended date for filing returns in Jammu and Kashmir will remain the same.
