Madrid : Spanish giants Sevilla have announced that coach Juande Ramos and physical trainer Marcos Alvarez had tendered their resignations.
Ramos’ resignation is almost certainly a prelude to him being appointed as coach of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, who Thursday night sacked Martin Jol.
Sevilla have not offered any details about Ramos’ departure, or about the compensation that Tottenham might pay, though it was clear that they are annoyed at the way their coach is walking out.
Neither have they announced Ramos’ replacement, although the Spanish media speculated that nursery team coach Manuel Jimenez would take charge on a caretaker basis.
Ramos, 53, has reportedly been offered a four-year contract by Tottenham worth around $10 million. He has so far not made any statement about his departure.
Ramos has been the most successful coach in Sevilla’s 102-year history, guiding them to two UEFA Cups, one European Supercup and one Spanish King’s Cup.
