New Delhi: The new office bearers of the Popular Front of India today had ‘get-together’ cum discussion with media and other socio-political leaders in the capital. PFI reiterated its commitment to continue serving the marginalized people, particularly the Muslims.
The programme was hosted at the India Islamic Cultural Centre and new office bearers were introduced by former national Chairman EM Abdur Rahiman.
KM Shareef became the new national chairman last month, while Prof P Koya is the new vice-chairman. OMA Salam will serve as the National General Secretary.
To strengthen our democracy we need to come together and defeat the fascist and communal forces, said the new president.
Prof. Koya, who is also the editor of Malayalam daily Thejas, reiterated the commitment of the PFI to work in social sector, empowering poor marginalized people and the need to strengthen the organization in north.
National General Secretary of PFI, OMA Salam also elaborated on the kind of work they are involved in north in social sector by organizing awareness campaigns and distributing scholarships.
When asked about their political ambitions, they vehemently denied any plans, but accepted their relations and support to the Social Democratic party of India (SDPI).
