Abu Dhabi : Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas deplored the poor progress of the peace talks with Israel despite the accords of November in Annapolis, US.
The US convened the international conference to boost talks between Palestinians and Israel. At the meeting, Abbas and Israeli PM Ehud Olmert pledged to re-launch the negotiations and adopt an agreement before year’s end.
Yet Abbas’ statements occur amid increasing Israeli attacks and punishment against the Palestinian people in Gaza that since January 17 lives an agonic shortage of staple supplies and reports some 200 deaths and tens of wounded.
At his stop over in Bahrein within his Middle East tour, Abbas spoke on the regional outlook and the Arab League Summit in March in Damascus, Syria, but refused to talk of progress in the peace process.
The Israeli Army launched Monday two air raids in Gaza, on Rafah (south) and Beit Lahya (north), and its infantry wounded seven people Tuesday in pre-down attack with 20 armored vehicles and combat choppers. The military said an Israeli soldier suffered light wounds.
