Baghdad : Leader of Iraq Al-Tavafogh Front in a meeting with Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad said President Ahmadinejad’s visit to Iraq indicates Iran’s strong support for Iraqi legal government.
In the meeting, Adnan al-Dalimi called for expansion of ties in all fields between Tehran and Baghdad.
He said Iran, in the region, has an special position and importance and its effective role in the area cannot be ignored.
Dalimi added, “The direction of Iran’s political behavior in Iraq has always been on a basis of constructive relations with all groups and ethnic groups.”
He also praised Iran’s embassy role in establishing ties with all Iraqi groups and political parties without any prejudice and creation any dispute.
Iran’s Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Kazemi Qomi, for his part, presented a report on mutual ties in all fields.
He said, “Iran’s intention to support Iraq popular government is reflected in President Ahmadinejad’s upcoming visit and Iran’s participation in trilateral talks with the USA about Iraq.
Meanwhile, speaker of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) in a meeting with Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad on Wednesday called President Ahmadinejad’s visit to Iraq ‘very important’.
In the meeting, Abdulaziz Hakim underlined Iran’s positive and constructive role in expansion of bilateral ties with Iraq.
The Iraqi top official said, “President Ahmadinejad’s visit to Baghdad is a positive step towards proving Iran’s intention to support Iraq, so we evaluate the trip very valuable.”
He added, since a popular government took office in Iraq, a noticeable development has occurred in bilateral ties and the route of the development indicates a very bright horizon in Tehran-Baghdad relations.
Hakim also described three rounds of trilateral talks between Iran-Iraq and the USA ‘positive and very valuable’.
He expressed hope that the fourth round of the talks would take place soon.
