Dubai : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will soon have a new low-cost airline to meet the growing passenger traffic, WAM news agency reported Tuesday.
UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his capacity as the ruler of Dubai, has instructed the civil aviation department to set up the airline with fares structure that would make travel economical for a large number of immigrants.
The prime minister named Ghaith Saeed Al Ghaith as Chief executive officer of the new airline.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, head of Dubai Civil Aviation and chairman of the holding company Emirates Group, said: “Sheikh Mohammed’s instruction will be put in place with immediate effect”.
“While setting fares structure, the company will take into consideration the financial and living conditions of passengers,” he said.
”Services will be low cost in keeping with Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness to ease the burden on passengers and enable them to reunite with their families and relatives at home,” Sheikh Ahmed added.
Sheikh Ahmed said the new company, to operate under the umbrella of the Emirates Group, will enjoy the advantages as other members.
