Hangzhou (China) : A man has been detained in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou for allegedly threatening to blow up a passenger plane after being refused a drink, authority said Friday.
The man, named Wo, allegedly threatened to bomb a plane after his request for a beer was refused by an attendant Thursday evening, said Liu Sheng, an official of the airport branch of the Zhejiang provincial public security department.
Wo’s threats sparked panic among co-passengers who quarrelled with him prompting the security personnel onboard the plane intervening and taking him under their control.
Wo was arrested soon after the China Eastern Airlines flight landed in Hangzhou, Liu said.
The man, in his fifties, was sent to judicial remand for 10 days.
No dangerous articles were found following a police check of the plane.
