Islamabad : Two bomb blasts injured three persons and damaged a gas pipeline in southwestern Pakistan, police said on Thursday.
A police officer said that some unknown miscreants had attached a bomb to a motorcycle parked near a railway crossing at the town of Dera Allah Yar, to target a tribal elder but he escaped unhurt in the attack.
The police offer Esa Khan said that tribal elder Bangal Khan but all the injured persons were passersby.
Locals said that the blast injured seven persons, two of them in critical condition.
They said that a motorcade of the activists of the ruling Peoples Party was scheduled to pass through the area.
The motorcade was heading to southern Sindh to attend the death anniversary of the party’s founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
The motorcade was to pass through the blast site after 15 minutes, according to the party.
In another incident a gas pipeline was blown up at Sui area of Balochistan, disrupting gas supply to several parts in the eastern Punjab and North West frontier province.
The 24-inch diameter was blasted late last night, which created panic among the people.
A spokesman for the banned Baloch Republican Army Sarbaz Baloch told reporters on phone that his group has carried out the attack.
He also claimed to have fired rockets at a check post of the army at Bekar area of the province.
There was no report of any casualty.
Anti-government Baloch insurgents regularly attack gas pipelines and gas wells in the resources-rich Balochistan.
Sources say that 30 wells in the Sui area, where Pakistan has huge gas reservoir, damaged in the wake of the attacks in two years.
A team of foreign experts were brought to the area to repair the wells.
