Kabul : Taliban insurgents raided a police checkpoint in Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan, killing six policemen, a local official said Tuesday.
The militants attacked a checkpoint of border police in Arghistan district Monday night, leaving six police constables dead, Rahmatullah Khan, commander of border police in the district, told Xinhua.
Moreover, Taliban purported spokesman Qari Yusuf Ahmadi in talks with certain media from undisclosed location claimed responsibility, adding the militants killed six policemen on the spot.
More than 400 people mostly civilians have been killed in Taliban-related violence and conflicts so far this year in Afghanistan.
