Ankara : A Turkish economic official asserted on Tuesday that the Kuwait-hosted Fourth World Islamic Economic Forum inaugurated by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah holds great importance for global economic development.
Head of Economic and Social Research in the Turkish Development Bank, Oktay Kiremiti praised in statements to KUNA the Kuwaiti efforts, namely the holding of the forum, that is of prior significance for Gulf country.
He added, “I believe that the gathering of all Islamic countries in this forum would result with economic cooperation.” Kiremiti said the forum’s aims are based on trade exchange, production, and financing among participating Islamic countries, which would play an important role in the exchange of information, technologies and securing a strong geographical economy capable of competing within the framework of the world economy.
He also stressed that the forum should concentrate on unifying economic efforts among Islamic countries to utilize vital resources.
“Like establishing an effective system to finance Islamic countries that are in need for loans, such a system would lessen poverty in many countries,” he said.
The Turkish official also referred to the European experience in establishing the European Union, and the issuance of the euro as a single currency.
