In a televised speech Thursday, Haniya, the prime minister of the dismissed government, showed readiness to immediately join comprehensive national dialogue based on the Sana’a Declaration, which tackled several controversial Palestinian issues.

He said his position showed Hamas’ keenness on maintaining Palestinian national unity in line with the Cairo Agreement, National Reconciliation Document and Mecca Agreement.

In this context, he urged the Arab League to sponsor inter-Palestinian dialogue in a bid to create national reconciliation just as the way the recent Lebanese deadlock was tackled.

Haniya also welcomed a possible call by any Arab country to heal the inter-Palestinian rift on the basis of no winner, no loser.

He further vowed to take tangible steps on the media arena and internal reconciliation within the next few days.

However, he ripped to shreds the US administration for allegedly blocking any Palestinian reconciliation effort. “This (US) administration has put stumbling blocks in the way of an inter-Palestinian dialogue project,” he said.

Earlier Thursday, Abbas decided to set up an ad hoc committee to launch national dialogue among all Palestinian factions.
