Amman : Jordan’s Foreign Ministry Tuesday summoned Iranian Charge d’Affairs in Amman to deny any official Jordanian involvement in a recent gathering of Iranian oppositions.
This action came a day after Jordan’s ambassador in Tehran, Ahmad Jalal, was called on by the Iranian government to explain the attendance of some 33 Jordanian political and media personnel in the People’s Mujahedin conference held in Paris on Saturday.
Officials with the ministry said the participation of some Jordanians in the meeting “has nothing to do with the Jordanian official attitude.”
“The Jordanian foreign policy has a well-known historical record of non-intervention in the internal affairs of other countries,” they added.
The officials also reiterated that Jordan is dealing with countries and governments and not with organizations or parties.
