New Delhi : The six-year-old high profile Nitish Katara murder case was finally inching towards judgement with the defence concluding the arguments Thursday.
Wrapping up the arguments on behalf of the accused Vikas Yadav before Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur, counsel raised objection to the victim’s DNA report, claiming that A.K. Sharma, the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) expert, had prepared his report using incorrect methodology.
Sharma, after analysing the blood samples taken from the recovered body and family members, had in February 2002 concluded that it was indeed the corpse of Nitish, son of complainant Neelam Katara.
The court is likely to announce the final verdict in the case next week.
Nitish was allegedly killed by Vikas and Vishal Yadav after being abducted from a marriage party in Ghaziabad on the intervening night of Feb 16-17, 2002. The accused were holding a grudge against the victim, son of a bureaucrat, for his proximity with their sister Bharti Yadav.
