Srinagar : The 23-hour heavy gun battle in Kashmir’s Lal Chowk area ended Thursday noon after security forces killed two guerrillas who were holed up in a hotel building since Wednesday, police said.
The toll in the suicide attack, first in two years in Lal Chowk that is Srinagar’s main business hub, mounted to four.
On Wednesday, a civilian and policeman were killed when militants hurled grenades and opened heavy gun fire at a paramilitary picket.
