She hoped that nothing will go wrong during the Oct 3-14 event.

“Delhi is absolutely ready for the Commonwealth Games. I am sure the Games go on beautifully, smoothly. Whole culture will be there, and whole India will be there. Hip hip hurray for the Commonwealth Games!” an elated chief minister said as Delhi’s legislators scrambled to hold the baton.

“We are all very happy. The baton which started its journey in London last year went across the world. It has finally come,” she said.

Dikshit said that despite “negative” reports about the preparations for the Games, the government had been able to deliver.

The baton will now travel to Commonwealth Games-related sites and historical monuments in Delhi before reaching the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Sunday when the Games begin.
