Jalgaon (Maharashtra) : In a daring daylight heist, armed robbers struck at a Central Bank of India branch here, decamping with around Rs.830,000 in cash after shooting at a bank employee Monday morning, police said.
The incident took place at the bank’s Raver branch at around 9.15 a.m. when at least three to four robbers swooped down on the bank premises and started firing in the air, said an officer of Raver police station, D.K. Pardeshi.
Even as four bank customers and four employees started running helter skelter, a bank employee, Ganesh P. Wani, 46, was injured in the shooting. He has been rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Jalgaon police have sealed all the entry and exit points to the district in an attempt to nab the culprits, Pardeshi said.
Jalgaon is around 400 km from Mumbai.
