Bangalore : Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa Wednesday dismissed talk of dissidence in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here as the state unit president K.S. Eshwarappa met a senior RSS leader to discuss party affairs.
“There is no dissidence. Whatever minor differences are there, have been resolved,” Yeddyurappa told reporters here.
His assertion came amid speculation that a group of party lawmakers wanting his removal in view of corruption charges have been holding meetings in the last two days at undisclosed locations.
Eshwarappa met state Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Mangesh Bende at Hubli, about 370 km from Bangalore.
“The two leaders discussed party issues,” BJP Lok Sabha member from Dharwad Prahlad Joshi told reporters. Hubli is Joshi’s constituency.
Eshwarappa’s meeting with the RSS leader follows persistent speculation that dissidents plan to mount pressure on central leaders for replacing Yeddyurappa and in the backdrop of next week’s visit to Bangalore of party general secretary in charge of Karnataka affairs Dharmendra Pradhan.
Yeddyurappa, however, maintained that “no political significance should be attached” to Pradhan’s visit.
Eshwarappa had last month led a group of party legislators to New Delhi to meet central leaders to convey to them “grievances of some law makers and ministers over lack of development work in their areas”.
