New Delhi : India recorded 1,041 incidents of Maoist violence involving 346 deaths till July 31 this year, parliament was told Tuesday, a drop from last year’s tally.
In the corresponding period in 2010, these figures stood at 1,347 incidents and 622 deaths, Minister of State for Home Jitendra Singh told the Lok Sabha in a statement.
He said the Maoist movement, led by the Communist Party of India-Maoist, sought to exploit various issues including inequalities in the society.
