Prem Kumar, 19, Vinay Kumar Jha, 21 and Raju Nishad, 27 were held from Sangam Vihar in south Delhi Monday for the robbery at Mehrauli on Nov 26, 2010.

During interrogation, Jha said he was working as a messenger in the firm of Jyoti Kumar Rajgarhia and was aware of the movements of his employer and his cash transactions.

“He disclosed the information that his employer used to keep a huge amount of cash in the office cupboard to Prem and Raju and instigated them to rob his employer’s office,” said a senior police officer.

“On Nov 26, Prem and Raju entered the office and pretended to overpower Vinay at gunpoint. When Rajgarhia came out of washroom, they overpowered him, threw chilli powder into his eyes and fled with Rs 2.10 lakh in cash and other articles,” he said.

Police were suspicious about Vinay’s role but Rajgarhia vouched for him.

Police managed to catch Prem from Sangam Vihar following an input about his involvement in the incident. “During questioning, he revealed that he along with Raju and Vinay had committed the robbery,” said the officer, adding the other two were then arrested..
