She had gone to the police station to inquire about her son who allegedly was kept in illegal detention.

The commission issued a notice to the chief secretary and the state police chief, calling for a report within four weeks, said an official of the NHRC.

According to some news reports May 31, the woman’s son was among six minors who were allegedly detained in the police station since May 27 in connection with complaints of thefts.

When she confronted police, the police station chief hurled abuses on her and asked his subordinate to thrash her, the reports said.

The woman was slapped, punched and kicked before being pushed out of the premises, the reports said.
