Mumbai: Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Jitin Prasada was made aware of a number of problems in the implementation of scholarship schemes targeting minorities students.
In a program organized by Rajasthani Muslim Samaj on Oct 6th in Jogeshwari, Mumbai, Mr. Prasada was given a memorandum listing all the issues with the scholarship schemes.
The memorandum by Community Coordination Initiative(CCI), an NGO said the website for submitting application for pre and post-matric scholarship was error prone which resulted in lot less than 20 lakh applications expected for this year.
The memorandum, copies of which was also handed to the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and Maharashtra Minister of Minority Affairs Arif Naseem pointed out that many students approved for scholarship didn’t get the funds transferred to their bank accounts and still waiting for their scholarship amount.
CCI delegation led by Prof.A.M.Siddiqui was accompanied by Rizwan Shaikh, Dr. Aqeel Parvez of Dhul, Syed Asif Ali, Inamur Rahman, and Ansari Anjum Hussain demanded an investigation into this matter and resolution of all the problems.
