Jharkhand sees 54.2 percent polling, Maoists kill one

Polling was largely peaceful, barring one incident in which a security personnel was killed. According to election officials, 54.2 percent of eligible voters cast the ballot for polls to 14 of 81 assembly seats. Twelve of these fell in Maoist areas. The polling percentage was marginally better than that in the first phase Nov 25.

Yeddyurappa Thursday expanded his ministry inducting three people who recently joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party from the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S). With this expansion, the Yeddurappa ministry strength went up to 34, the maximum allowed under constitutional provisions.
