By IANS, Bhubaneswar : The Orissa police have arrested an engineering student for circulating objectionable photographs of his girlfriend and also posting them online after she refused to marry him, a police official said Friday. Gopal Krushna Panigrahi, a second-year student of information technology here, was nabbed from Berhampur, some 100 km from here, after the girl's father lodged a police complaint against him, police officer Abhimanyu Guda said. Panigrahi had proposed marriage to the girl, also a student at the same institute, but was turned down.

Nine Ghaziabad cops charged with staging shootout

Patil Tuesday announced relief of Rs.500,000 to each bereaved family in Malegaon that lost its kin in the bomb blast Monday. The families of those injured in the blast would get Rs.50,000 each, he said. Four people were killed when a crude bomb went off in a crowded market around 9.30 p.m. Monday. At least 79 people were injured in the bomb blast, and stone throwing by an angry crowd and police firing that followed, Patil said.

Abducted Indian worker released in Afghanistan

At least 20 killed in Baghdad car bombing

Kabul : The Taliban has set the eighth deadline for executing some South Korean hostages, which would last until 4:00 p.m. (1130 GMT) on Monday, a purported Taliban spokesman Yousuf Ahmadi said Monday.

Kabul : After killing two South Korean hostages, Taliban guerrillas Tuesday extended the deadline for 21 remaining hostages till 12 p.m. (0730 GMT) Wednesday.

A purported Taliban spokesman, Yousuf Ahmadi, told Xinhua on telephone from an undisclosed place that militants would kill more hostages if their demands were not met.

He also said some hostages were in very bad condition and they may die a natural death.

This is the ninth time Taliban militants have revised the deadline for killing Korean hostages.
