Kerala panel defines OBC creamy layer with Rs.450,000 a year tag

Fake currency scam: Cashier admits to exchanging fake notes with real

By IANS, Lucknow : Sudhakar Tripathi, a cashier of the State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Domariyaganj in Uttar Pradesh, has admitted to the police that he had exchanged fake currency notes worth Rs.15 million with the original ones, sources said Thursday. The police probing the recovery of fake currency notes in the SBI branch had taken Tripathi into remand for further questioning. A team of the Crime Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department (CBCID) has already visited the branch, sources said.

Kashmir’s Kani shawl gets GI rank

A Kani shawl is produced on a handloom from Pashmina fiber, which is known world- over as cashmere wool and comes from goats. Kani shawls are woven on looms and also widely known as Jamawar. Two other shawls, Pashmina and Kashmiri Sozni have also got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

Leitner Shriram to manufacture wind turbines near Chennai

For stage-I of the project, NTPC Ltd had awarded the contract worth Rs.19 billion to Russia-based power equipment supplier, Technopromoexport. "BHEL is the only vendor that has bid for supply of boiler package for Barh-II. We plan to start negotiations with BHEL soon to arrive at an acceptable contract price," a senior NTPC official told IANS.

Himachal gives nod to survey for Manali-Leh rail link

HAL plans lean heirarchy after cutting flab in manufacturing

Kamaz Vectra Hosur plant shut down

By IANS, Chennai : Heavy truck maker Kamaz Vectra Motors Ltd's plant at Hosur has been shut down by the Tamil Nadu Factories Inspectorate for operating without a proper licence, an official said Monday. "We found workers were listed under the names of two companies in the same premises. This is not as per the law. Further, the company does not have a licence to operate," the inspectorate official told IANS on condition of anonymity. The inspection took place Saturday as workers at the plant have been on a sit-in strike for over 15 days demanding absorption by Kamaz Vectra.

Adani Agrifresh to buy 35,000 tonnes of apples from Himachal

By IANS, Shimla : Adani Agrifresh will procure 35,000 tonnes of apples from Himachal Pradesh this year, a company official said here Sunday. "We have started apple procurement two days ago. This year's procurement rate is Rs.31 a kg for the superior variety," Deputy General Manager Sanjay Mahajan told IANS. This year's price is Rs.27 less than that of last year. "Last year we just managed to procure 9,000 tonnes of apples as the production in the state was quite low (due to a dry monsoon and a snowless winter)," he added.
