Lucknow: The Congress Monday demanded an unconditional apology from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice-president Vinay Katiyar for issuing "objectionable posters linking Congress with terrorism", ahead of his rally in Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar district.
The posters for the 'Janta Jago' rally, which would take place Friday, read: "Whose son-in-law is Afzal Guru, who had attacked parliament?" The reply below reads: "The Congress Party."

Caste alone counts for Mayawati as she eyes Delhi

Lucknow : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati appears to be banking entirely on the caste factor to race to the portals of power in New Delhi. Be it Dalits, upper castes or religious minorities, she is wooing them all for what they are.
Even as the BSP's foundations were strongly anti-upper caste as laid by Mayawati's political mentor and party founder Kanshi Ram, who mobilised Dalits under his banner, she was responsible for bringing Brahmins into the party fold.

Raipur : Chhattisgarh's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which says it is fighting the civic bodies polls with limited resources, has hired three helicopters for the election campaign.
"We have taken development schemes to village-level since the BJP formed the government in December 2003. Now we want to reach out to the maximum number of voters through 'chopper campaign'," a BJP leader told IANS.
"One chopper is being used by Chief Minister Raman Singh. Another is with some key leaders. The third is expected to be available within a day or two," the source added.
