Islamabad : A top Islamist militant commander with extensive fighting experience in Afghanistan has based himself with 40 fighters inside the radical Lal Masjid where at least 21 people have been killed in gunbattles between madrassa students and security forces.
The unnamed commander belonging to Mehsud tribe and having vast fighting experience in the restive Afghanistan has managed to enter Jamia Hafsa with a group of 40 fighters to support the students of Lal Masjid against the government, a source privy to the masjid said.

PIL in Delhi HC over injustices to Urdu language
New Delhi: A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in Delhi High Court regarding injustices against Urdu language and Urdu medium schools.
The PIL has been filed by president of Farogh-e-Urdu Society, Dr. Zainul Abedeen and the treasurer of Gupta Educational Promotion Society Sha’oor Ahmad. Government of India’s step-motherly treatment of Urdu since Independence is not hidden from any learned and intelligent person.

Kottayam (Kerala) : Two employees of the state-run Kerala State Cooperative Consumers Federation Limited (Consumerfed) have been transferred after a veiled woman pretended to be a Muslim and lined up to receive a gift at a Ramadan fair.
The incident took place last week at the Karapuzha Service Cooperative Bank near here with Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran giving away the gift packets.
The woman, Suba Jacob, worked as a casual employee at Consumerfed and has been sacked.
