Turkish air strikes kill 175 Kurdish rebels

It said that Turkey's military has hit more than 200 PKK positions in northern Iraq since Dec 16, killing hundreds of rebels. Turkish planes carried out strikes at some villages near the border in the Qandil mountains Dec 16. The military said other hideouts were hit in a cross-border air operation Dec 22 followed by artillery fire.

Liberhan, a retired judge, was asked to inquire into the events that led to the Dec 6, 1992 mosque demolition in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. The commission was set up about 10 days after the event. The commission was initially asked to complete the inquiry within three months but it is yet to submit its findings.
