Four arrested with fake currency in Uttar Pradesh

By IANS, Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh Police Friday said it had busted an inter-state gang dealing in fake currency with the arrest of four people from Lucknow district and the recovery of counterfeit currency worth Rs.1.6 million. "Three of those arrested are from Bihar while the other is from Uttar Pradesh," said Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal. The people were arrested near the Badshah Nagar railway station in Lucknow, he added. Ambala : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against functionaries of the Dera Sacha Sauda religious sect at a special court in this Haryana town in two cases of murder and the rape of a woman sect follower.

The CBI filed the chargesheet Monday night at the residence of the special CBI court judge R.N. Bharti. Dera chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh's name also figured in it, CBI sources indicated.

Maoist guerrillas kill one, trigger blast

By IANS, Malkangiri (Orissa) : Maoist guerrillas killed a man early Wednesday in Orissa’s Malkangiri district and then triggered a blast when Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were going to the spot to investigate, police said. A trooper was critically injured in the explosion. The Maoists guerrillas killed the man, suspecting him to be a police informer, at Badigata village, some 60 km from the district headquarter of Malkangiri and 700 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, a police official said. The identity of the victim is not yet known, he said.
