Kolkata: Opposition to the policies of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) is gaining momentum in the backwaters of West Bengal. Bhagwatipur in Hooghly District is a Muslim-dominated area. A meeting was organized there to discuss reservations for Muslims in government services, restoration of Wakf properties and cancellation of author Taslima Nasreen’s visa. Most of the speakers condemned the policies of ruling CPM. They held the government responsible for discontinuation of lessons in Qur’an at Far Farah Madrasa.

Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Tuesday said her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will not have any truck with any political outfit, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party, during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and criticised the Samajwadi Party for its turnaround on the nuclear deal.
"We will go alone to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. Even in future, the BSP will not form an alliance with the BJP or other parties," Mayawati told reporters here at a press conference.

Iran's representative to the IAEA, Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh, has said Heinonen is to offer a working agenda to Iran on the basis of which questions on Iran's nuclear case will be raised and responded.

Damascus : Exiled Hamas leader in Syria Khaled Meshaal on Friday called for dialogue with the rival Fatah movement after days of infighting between the two groups in Gaza.
    "What is needed now is to deal with the Palestinian split," Meshaal told a press conference here, saying Hamas, or the Islamic Resistance Movement, supported the Arab sponsorship of a dialogue in the Palestinian national interest.

Ambala : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against functionaries of the Dera Sacha Sauda religious sect at a special court in this Haryana town in two cases of murder and the rape of a woman sect follower.
The CBI filed the chargesheet Monday night at the residence of the special CBI court judge R.N. Bharti. Dera chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh's name also figured in it, CBI sources indicated.
