Suicide bomber kills six people in Iraq

Mosul (Iraq) : A suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance to a police station in a town in northern Iraq Thursday, killing at least six people, including five policemen, police said.

The human bomb blew himself up at the police station of Tal Abta town, 80 km west of Mosul, a spokesman of Mosul police told Xinhua.

The attack also killed a civilian and wounded 13 people, including 10 policemen, the spokesman said.

Mosul, 400 km north of Baghdad, is the capital of Nineveh province, where Tal Abta is located.

Mumbai : A special anti-terror court Wednesday sentenced three Mumbai serial blasts convicts to death - the first capital punishment given after the 1993 terror attack that killed 257 people.

Parvez Nasir Sheikh, who was the first to be given capital punishment by the anti-terror court, was found guilty on three counts - criminal conspiracy, act of terrorism and murder.

Mushtaq Mussa Tarani and Abdul Gani Ismail Turk are the two others.

Major Fazalur Rehman, a spokesman for the paramilitary Frontier Corps, said the fighting started when dozens of militants attacked a security checkpoint in Ferozkhel area of Orakzai district. Bangalore, Oct 3 (IANS) Eleven people were detained early Friday in Karnataka's coastal city of Mangalore on suspicion of having links with terror groups, police said. The Karnataka police, the state Anti-Naxal Force and Mumbai Police jointly raided several places in and around Mangalore, about 350 km from Bangalore, and picked up suspects for questioning.
