But there is always some radical element in one democracy which if adopted by another democracy (may be in a modified form) then it can prove to be a panacea for quite a number of problems faced by that ailing democracy. In this context the fundamental difference between democracies of USA and India needs highlighting.

By IANS, Hisar: An 18-year-old physically challenged Dalit girl was burnt alive after she was trapped in her house which was set on fire by members of a dominant community in Haryana's Hisar district Wednesday. "Some miscreants set some houses in Mirchpur village on fire. A girl, Suman, who could not run out of the house, died of burn injuries. Her father, 70-year-old Tara Chand, is admitted in hospital with 90 per cent burns," O.P. Sheron, deputy commissioner of Hisar, told reporters, here.

Kamla Bairwa of Jhalra village in Tonk district, over 100 km from Jaipur, stated in her First Information Report (FIR) filed with the police Saturday that some villagers tagged her as a witch, insulted her and then beat her up. "The villagers, especially the women, call me a witch. They insult me, torture me and beat me up. They wanted me to leave the village," Kamla, a labourer, told IANS.

Jitender alias Kalla was served with a second punishment days after he was awarded life sentence by the court for murdering Anil Bhadana, the then Satyawati College Students Union president.
