How BJP got its biggest win ever?

By Dr Shahnoor Rahman, India, being the largest democracy in the world, the identification and special care of the poor and deprived of the society -- mostly the Dalits and minorities by the government is the most important thing for social justice. This is the most important thing as well so that everyone can contribute towards the progress of the country.

Mayawati vs Ram Vilas Paswan: A ding-dong battle for Dalit politics

By Soroor Ahmed, TwoCircles.net, The decimation of Mayawati-led hitherto strong Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh and the revival of the virtually defunct Dalit outfit of Bihar, Lok Janshakti Party, deserve an objective study. The former failed to open its account notwithstanding the fact that it managed to get about one-fifth votes of UP while fighting alone, whereas in Bihar the LJP won six seats when it got just 6.4 per cent votes. The only difference is that it contested in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The condemnation did not stop within the borders of the country but international organizations have also expressed their dissatisfaction towards lack of adequate sanitation facilities and growing sexual violence of women resulting into the violations of human rights in India. Civility against Caste: Dalit Politics and Citizenship in Western India

Title: Civility against Caste: Dalit Politics and Citizenship in Western India Author: Prof. Suryakant Waghmore Publisher: Sage India Year: January, 2014 Review by: Yogesh Maitreya for TwoCircles.net, Civility is the least discussed discourse in India. In post-constitutional Indian society, the idea of civility has formed a binary: on one hand, ‘civil society’ that has been propagated by media and resources which are dominated and owned by Brahmin-Bania associations and on the other hand, the civility which has been practice by NGOs and political organisations led by Dalits. The latter had started with the core motive of annihilation of caste and, found its genesis in the struggles of Mahatma Fule and Dr. B.R.Ambedkar in Maharashtra. The idea of civility, practiced by Dalit NGOs and political groups, is contrary to the idea of civility which Brahmin-Bania possess and propagate in India, simply because idea of civility practiced by Dalits aims at annihilation of caste; precisely, Dalit civility is the ‘Civility against Caste’.

“Dalits are not definitely a block, and there is an intellectual blossom,” Kancha Ilaiah

By Ajmal Khan and Anish for TwoCircles.net, Professor Kancha Ilaiah had well predicted that Narendra Modi would become the next Prime Minister under BJP, and he has also been instrumental in raising criticism on how Indian Left failed to understand the caste question. After the parliament elections, he described how the caste equations has been used in the country by the BJP. As soon as the BJP came into power, many decisions have already been taken by the ruling government, which will have far reaching consequences on the lives of dalits, adivasis, Muslims and Bahujans. In this context, Ajmal Khan and Anish engaged in conversation with Kancha Ilaiah, writer, a dalit rights activist and former Professor and head of the Political Science department at the Osmania University, Hyderabad, on contemporary politics in India, particularly on Muslim, Dalit and Bahujan politics. He argues, that Muslims will have to form their own national party or a national coalition of all the Muslim parties by retaining their political and social identity.
