Helaluddin Khan passed away on April 25, 2014 at his residence at Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, in Thoubal District, due to an illness. He was elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly from the Lilong Assembly Constituency four times. He also held various portfolios including the Department of Revenue and Irrigation & Flood Control as Cabinet Minister. He was 70. The last rite was performed on April 25.

Actor Rajasekhar invokes caste for votes, arrested

By IANS, Hyderabad : Andhra Pradesh Police Friday arrested Telugu film actor Rajasekhar for seeking votes in the name of caste. The actor, who is campaigning for the ruling Congress, was arrested for violating model code of conduct in Srikakulam district in north coastal Andhra, police said. A case was registered against him at Tekkali police station for seeking votes in the name of caste. He was later released on bail. Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha are campaigning for the party in the region, which goes to polls in the first phase April 16.
