Veteran BJP leader Chimanbhai Shukla dead

By IANS, Ahmedabad : Chimanbhai Shukla, veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former MP, died in Rajkot city of Gujarat Monday morning. He was 81. He was hospitalized a week ago for a lung ailment. Shukla was among the first members of the Jan Sangh, the predecessor of the BJP. He was elected to the state assembly in 1968. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Rajkot in 1977. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1992 to 1998. Shukla is survived by his wife Kundanben, three sons and a daughter.
